Houston Judge Resigns After Claims of Bias Against Domestic Abuse Victims

Harris County criminal Court-at-Law Judge Reagan Helm has resigned after protests over his allegedly taunting remarks to victims of domestic violence. Helm, 68, reportedly admitted to suffering from dementia and having “medical issues.” He was accused of extreme bias against women in these cases. In one instance, Helm told men accused of domestic abuse that these women have them “by the balls.”

Helm resigned on the eve of a recusal hearing that was prompted by the demand of the Harris County District Attorney’s Office that he be removed from “any and all” cases involving accusations of domestic violence because of “deep-seated bias and prejudice.”

Some have alleged that Helm went downhill after his long-time court reporter, Don Rymer retired (after reportedly being indicted in April. He pleaded guilty to a state jail felony charge of tampering with a government record in connection with a missing trial transcript. Rymer was rumored to have helped Helm with decisions.

As the article below discusses, he was accused of mocking one woman that her husband did not look like much of a threat.

Whoa. This is scary because dementia is contagious. Seriously.

Has nothing to do with the concept that dementia is contagious, it only has to do with the facts of certain situations and how certain Laws apply to each.

Houston, we have a problem. You wonder why it smells so bad? Well its the arm pit for the rest of the world.

This is good that the Judge resigned but unfortunate under the circumstances.

Then why shouldn’t Nancy Grace of CNN voluntarily resign since she violated victim’s rights so much that there are victims not alive anymore directly because of her unprofessional actions? Perhaps it is time to make it a criminal offense to victimize victims to their death.

    mfm,

I had the misfortune to recently be trapped a situation where I was forced to watch about an hour of Nancy.

    Most unfortunate.
